Off-Site Training

Fast ForWord®, is a state-of-the-art CD-ROM based training program. It is a revolutionary way for building language learning skills including student’s ability to listen, speak and read.

Fast ForWord® Remote gives families the opportunity to use Fast ForWord® by Scientific Learning in the comfort of their own homes. This new program is a self-study option that is monitored and managed by the parent/family on a daily basis. Each software product is used by the student on their home computer for a period of 10-12 weeks, 48 minutes per day, 5 days per week.

How this Service Works
An Assistive Technology Specialist from the TECHConnection will provide the following services:

Pre and Post testing to determine whether Fast ForWord® is appropriate and which software product should be used.
4 hours of home visit service by an Assistive Technology Specialist.
Fast ForWord® Software installation and setup in your home.
Demonstration and initial training with student and parent for the first 48 minute session.
Weekly telephone calls with family to discuss progress reports/graphs. These reports will be sent to the parent prior to the discussion.
Provide technical support via telephone.
Remote monitoring of student’s progress.
Maintain ongoing contact with Fast ForWord® to assist student progress and general troubleshooting.

Cost of Program
Your fee will include $700.00 for Technical Services from the TECHConnection, plus the cost of your software product. The cost of Fast ForWord® software varies depending on which program is purchased. (see below)

Procedures:

After your deposit is received, an Assistive Technology Specialist will contact you to set up your pre-testing session at Family Resource Associates in Shrewsbury, NJ. All students will be given the CELF-3rd Edition – Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals. The results of this test will determine which software product, if any, is appropriate for your child to use. This will be discussed with you via telephone after the test has been scored.

Please note that if it is not appropriate for your child to use this software, a portion of your deposit, less the cost of testing, will be returned to you.

If Fast ForWord® is appropriate for your child to use; TECHConnection staff will contact you regarding which software program will be appropriate for your child.

When your complete payment has been received, an Assistive Technology Specialist will call you to set up your first appointment.

Fee Schedule:

$250.00--Deposit (this includes a $125. non-refundable testing fee)

$450.00--Balance of Cost for TECHConnection Services

Total cost will range from $1,200. to $1,600.

Note:
In order to use any Fast ForWord® product, you must register through a Licensed Fast ForWord® provider. TECHConnection staff are licensed and trained by Scientific Learning to facilitate appropriate use of the software.
