Computer Donation Program

computerWe have available to loan (on a permanent basis) computers that have been donated to us by businesses and families for the purpose of this program. These computers are recycled and made available to you upon request. We have both PC and Macintosh platforms, as well as printers and modems.  This service is FREE to members of the TECHConnection.  Non-members are asked to donate $20.00.

Have a computer that you'd like to donate??  It must be at least 500 MHz with 128 MB of RAM and a CD-ROM player.  Speakers, modems, keyboards and mouses are gladly accepted; however,  monitors are accepted only with a unit.  We will accept a unit without a monitor.  Printers must come with a NEW uninstalled cartridge.  No scanners, please.
Please call at 732-747-5310 first. Sorry, we cannot accept unscheduled drop-offs!

We are delighted to be able to offer this program to you. This program could not be possible without the help of our many volunteers.  These computers are checked by our technicians to make sure they are in excellent working condition. They are ideal for the person that wants to do word processing, spreadsheet work and a variety of low end business applications. These computers are also excellent for the person who is a novice and wants to become comfortable using computers, as well as providing an excellent opportunity for children to practice with and get use to the mouse. Early learning and academic software is available and we can help you find the appropriate software to help you and your child.

mouse  How to become registered into this program:
Call our office for our Computer Donation registration form. This form will be sent to you for you to fill out and return to our office. When a computer is ready, you will be contacted to come in to pick it up. For individuals that are homebound, we do have volunteers that can bring the computer to you and set it up in your home. (Waiting time is longer for these cases.) At that time you will receive a one hour overview which will instruct you how to use your computer and address concerns you might have regarding access to the computer.
All individuals requesting a computer are asked to become a member of the TECHConnection. As a member you can receive additional training time at the center, use our drop in hours to practice and explore software, enjoy discounts for our training workshops, have access to the World Wide Web, resource information and our newsletter.

cableWho to Contact:
If you are calling to ask for a Computer Donation registration form, you can do so with the receptionist who answers the phone. If you have general questions about the program, you can contact the TECHConnection office during the week. Call 732-747-5310.
